Goodbye August

August 31st, 2011

Well it’s been a crazy month and time to change gears moving into september. The not so good news is that this month I went through a shocking number of rejections. Canada Council – no! NFB – no! and then there were 2 or 3 festivals I got hired for and then the bastards hired someone else behind my back and didn’t have the decency to tell me to my face. I have yet to receive word or apology from someone I’ve worked with many times in the past and that’s just so far off side!!! And then there was that woman at the bar….
The good news is all of that is behind me now and one door closes and all that! This month I put two new feathers in my cap. I became a video artist and a performer at an arts festival. I’ve made films before but this was the first time I made video art. I created three pieces for the Synchronicity Festival that takes place in Gibson’s. The playing space is a forest and one installation was projected as people entered the playing space, one film about swings played on a laptop that swung from a tree and another about a marrionette fortune teller played on a laptop under a chandelier that hung in a tree. Pretty cool installations and I was very happy with the result.
I’m just finishing off the music and sound effects for an iphone app game and then onto a documentary and a very big theatre project which will happen at the CBC space in downtown Vancouver.
That’s you updated for now – back soon.
