OMG! There’s a boatload of music news to get through!

But that’s not a bad thing.

The one thing I have felt I really haven’t gotten enough of in my career, besides more money, is recognition. When all of my clients say that I exceeded their expectations and audiences love my music and ask for more - then I must be doing something right.

I know that my musical compositions are good but honestly, I feel that for some reason I’ve been passed over.

And then just a month ago I get nominated for not one but two Leo awards - BC’s film awards. And you know what? It does feel good to get recognized for your creativity and all the hard work you put in to make those films rise above the rest.

I’m sure you are aware that filmmaking is a team effort and collaboration of many creativew talents. The nominated films were no exception and here’s the breakdown of who did what. You can see that I am not nominated alone in either catagory and I love that.

Doug and I have worked together for years and years and are an audio dream team. Sometimes he does music and I do sound and sometimes I do music and he does sound. And he is a dynamite re-recording mixer. I also did some freelance work for Doug on a show called “Naked Attraction” a UK dating show where you get to see your potential date’s “junk” before you decide on a date with them.

BTW, I don’t recommend this method, Yikes!

I’m not surprised that we were nominated for “Boutique” as that’s as close to perfection we have ever been on a film. It’s amazing!

And then on “In The Room” I was brought on to do some special sound effects and was part of a massive sound team that kicked ass. Doug was my boss. He’s a good boss in case you were wondering.

And I released my first ever solo music album on May 01, 2026 on the Bandcamp platform. Man, does it feel good to get my music out there and let my singing voice do all the heavy lifting. I love being a film music composer but I’m always supporting someone else’s creative vision and not my own and I don’t get to sing.

So, this is a real trumph and breakthrough and milestone for me.

Admittedly sales have been slow but I only really started advertising this month so I have some catching up to do.

Will it be on spotify? Not a F*cking chance!

I am appauled at all the parasitism in the music industry and streaming sites like that have ruined music forever - especially indie music.

Why I should do a blog on music parasitism. I should do a multipart blog on parasitism in the creative arts. And I will…

Here’s some videos to wet your appetite for my new music album

I hosted an online listening party on June 14, 2026 at 3pm eastern time (Ottawa, Canada). Imagine sitting around all together with your favorite beverage or whatever and listening to my entire album from song 1 to 9. All through the music you could ask me questions or comment via live chat if you so desired.

I think bandcamp is a good deal as most of the money in a sale goes to the artist. I’ll break that down in another blog. So come on out and support me by listening and buy the album on the way out if you so desire. bandcamp.com

There! Now you are all up to date.

Thanks for reading and supporting independent artist like me.

UPDATE:

The Leo Awards were held over the weekend of July 4th and 5th.

The amazing sound team for “In The Room” won best sound for a feature documentary.

Way to go team!

I have to say though that I’m a bit shocked that Doug and I didn’t win for “Boutique” as we killed it! Oh well, such is life and congrats to the short drama winners.

Okay, now you’re up to date.
